Steve will discuss the Border Affairs unit at the TCEQ. This includes a background on Texas and its border with neighboring Mexican states, border environmental treaties and relevant state legislation, as well as current border environmental issues, among them waste, air quality, and water issues. Waste issues he will cover transboundary movement of hazardous waste and siting of hazardous waste landfills. He will also go over the TCEQ Border Initiative, the agency’s comprehensive, cooperative effort to serve border residents.
