Is Texas Prepared for the New UST Regs Published by EPA? Download the presentation here
There has not been a major revision to the EPA regulations for Underground Storage Tanks since 1988. The new changes establish Federal requirements that are similar to key portions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Although Texas has a state approved program that is already stricter than the 1988 regulations, there are still adjustments that will need to be made to our regulations. The most talked about changes center around the operation and maintenance requirements for UST systems. TAIT Environmental Services went through these changes in California years ago and is familiar with the level of effort needed to maintain compliance.
The TCEQ has been involved throughout the EPA comment periods and is already working with industry to prepare for changes that will be presented in legislation session the upcoming changes to the Chapter 334 UST rules.
Melanie and Nathan will be addressing Spill and Overfill Prevention. Walkthrough Inspections, Repairs, Release Detection, Operator Training, the TCEQ’s rulemaking process, and more.
